Sioux Falls, SD (KSFY) Roughly 1300 wrestlers of all ages from all over South Dakota made their way to Sioux Falls this weekend to compete in the South Dakota Wrestling Coaches Association’s State Wrestling tournament.

It’s the first time this growing event was held at the Sioux Falls Arena. Parents, coaches and officials with the Sioux Empire Wrestling club spent a lot of time and energy hosting the event.

“It’s much more than our committee, there’s a couple hundred volunteers out here that help us bring it all together to make this event what it is,” event organizer Wade Behm said.

The Sioux Empire Wrestling club says the event is all about growing a love of the sport.

Wrestlers as young as four years old competed. All of the winners received their medals from SDSU National Champion wrestler Seth Gross.
