World Archery’s Medical and Sports Science Committee has issued a document of recommendations for post-pandemic archery activities as sport restarts after the peak of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The regulations are supplementary to local health rules.

Emphasis is placed on hand sanitation, cleaning equipment and maintaining social distance during practice, with each archer recommended to use a single target and a minimum of two metres between each boss.

World Archery secretary general Tom Dielen said: “The World Archery executive board tasked the medical and sports science committee with creating a basic set of regulations for archery federations in the process of restarting activities.”

“We all want to begin shooting again but it’s important that we help archers to do so safely and support member associations as they move past this challenging time.”
