Two Placer County youth volleyball coaches, who are twin brothers, were arrested Wednesday on child molestation charges after allegations were brought forward by multiple victims, Lincoln police said.
Jason Cole, 41, of Lincoln, and Robert Cole, 41, of Grass Valley, were taken into custody on charges of lewd acts upon a child, according to the Lincoln Police Department.
Jason Cole was arrested at a Placer County courtroom where he was appearing for an unrelated matter, officers said. He was already out of custody on bail following an arrest last year on child molestation-related charges.
According to Lincoln police, Jason Cole was arrested on April 5, 2017, for having sex with an unconscious victim under 18. He was also arrested in January for a DUI.
Robert Cole was taken into custody at the Placer County Jail, where he was already in custody on child molestation-related charges from April 20, police said. Those charges include sodomy by force and lewd acts with a child between 14 and 15.
The Cole brothers’ bail is set at $150,000 each.
“One isolated case is terrible enough,” Lincoln Police Sgt. Matt Alves said. “However, once we start talking about multiple victims over a time span, that just makes it even more disturbing,”
The brothers were known to coach youth volleyball in Placer County for several years.
“If there are parents or teenagers that have been victimized by these individuals we want them to come forward,”Alves said. “So, we can speak with them and we can move forward with additional investigations.”
Anyone with information about possible victims is asked to call the Lincoln Police Department at 916-645-4040.
