Four Texas Tech football players were arrested Sunday morning on various charges, according to KCBD-TV and Lubbock County jail records.

Lubbock police told KCBD they were called to a bar for a group of people blocking traffic. Police said while they were there one person smashed the windshield of a car. Lubbock police said some in the group acted agressively towards officers.

LPD reports that a nearby apartment complex was also damaged. In all they said eight people were arrested.

Quarterback Jett Duffey, a Tech sophomore from Mansfield, was arrested and accused of criminal mischief. Linebacker Christian Taylor, from Jersey Village, was also arrested on that same charge.

Wide Receiver Quan Shorts, of Humble and Desmon Smith, of Odessa, were also arrested on Sunday morning. Both men were charged with disorderly conduct.

Christian Taylor, Quan Shorts and Desmon Smith were also arrested on Sunday morning by Lubbock police. Taylor was charged with criminal mischief, while Shorts and Smith were charged with disorderly conduct.

Texas Tech Athletics released a statement on Sunday saying “Texas Tech Athletics was made aware this morning of an incident involving members of our football program. We are still looking into the matter at this time.”

The Texas Tech football team is in spring drills. Saturday the team played in a scrimmage in Midland. Duffey threw for 185 yards and a touchdown in the game. 

The Red Raiders will have a scrimmage on April 7 at 3p.m. in Frisco.
